Residents of the Sverdlovsk region faced severe flooding after heavy rains that hit the region. In a conversation with Izvestia on June 30, a resident of the village of Samostroy in Pervouralsk said that a flood of water demolished the porch on her property and flooded the house.

"I came home from work and couldn't walk home, there was water above my knee. The current was terrible, the porch was torn off. Everything was running like a river towards the neighbors," the woman explained.

The water flooded several rooms in the house and the basement. The woman and her husband were forced to spend the night with the children — they had to be taken out of the site by fire truck.

Another local resident noted that the local authorities promptly responded to the incident — a moat was dug in the village overnight, which helped lower the water level.

"A neighbor went to rescue his grandmother, there was a lot of water, he fell into a ditch up to his neck," the man added.

His neighbors admitted that they were moving around the flooded area in waders.

"We have been living here for more than 25 years, this is the first time," one of the residents explained.

Tomsk Region, Ingushetia, Chechnya, North Ossetia and Kamchatka Territory are under threat of flooding, hydrologists have warned.

On June 23, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that 188 residential buildings and 361 household plots were flooded in the Orenburg region as a result of heavy rains and rising river levels. According to the ministry, 93 people, including 12 children, were evacuated from the flood zone. Residents are staying with relatives and in temporary accommodation facilities.
