- Russians were given a way to independently calculate the size of their future pension
Russians can independently estimate the size of their future pension by multiplying the accumulated pension points by the actual cost of one point and adding a fixed payment. This was announced on June 30 by Yulia Finogenova, Professor of the Department of State and Municipal Finance at Plekhanov Russian University of Economics.
The old-age insurance pension consists of two parts. The first part is a fixed state payment, which does not depend on work experience and is indexed annually, this year its amount is 9 684.69 rubles. The second part, the insurance pension, directly depends on the number of individual pension coefficients (IPCs).
"It is calculated as the sum of accumulated points multiplied by the cost of one IPC per retirement year," she shared in an interview with RIA Novosti.
For 2026, the cost of one IPC is 156.76 rubles. To receive an insurance pension, you must reach retirement age, have at least 15 years of insurance experience, and accumulate at least 30 retirement coefficients.
Finogenova stressed that the final amount of payments depends on the level of official income for the entire working life and on the amount of insurance premiums that the employer transfers from the official salary.
According to the Social Fund of Russia, the average pension provision for working citizens increased by about 2.6 thousand rubles over the year. It was noted that in May 2026, working pensioners had an average payout of 23,721 rubles, whereas a year ago in the same period this amount was 21,106 rubles.
