Zakharova announced Kiev's attempts to draw NATO into a conflict with Russia

Kiev is stepping up its attempts to push the North Atlantic Alliance (NATO) into direct armed conflict with Russia in order to save its desperate situation. This was announced on June 29 by the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova.

"The Kiev regime is increasing its attempts to actually realize its long—cherished desire to push NATO into direct armed conflict with Russia in the false hope of saving its desperate situation on the battlefield," Zakharova said in a comment on the Foreign Ministry's website.

According to an official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, such attempts are classified as "irrational fantasies."

However, Trump may demand that the Europeans and Zelensky compromise with Russia.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, in an article for Politico Europe on June 19, noted that a clash between NATO and the Russian Federation could lead to catastrophic consequences, including an exchange of strikes using nuclear weapons. According to him, Europe's course towards confrontation with Russia and further expansion carries serious risks for global security.
