Experts noted the role of river routes in the development of Moscow

A new level of urban mobility is being formed in Moscow due to the development of river transportation. This assessment was given by experts at the round table "Development of river transportation in Moscow: a new urban transport for a comfortable and connected capital", which was held on June 29 at the Moscow Shipyard.

As Sabina Tsvetkova, Chairman of the Moscow City Duma Commission on Transport and Road Infrastructure Development, noted, the capital is consistently developing a river transportation route network. "Four regular river electric transport routes are already operating in the city, the demand for which has exceeded the wildest expectations. With the launch of Russia's unique Moscow shipyard in the capital, a modern fleet that has no analogues in the world in terms of comfort and equipment is being created at an accelerated pace," she said.

According to Alexander Asafov, a member of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation and a supporter of the United Russia Party, the network of regular river routes complements existing routes and is integrated into familiar urban travel scenarios. At the same time, the expert emphasized, the expansion of communications along the Moskva River is accompanied by the modernization of related infrastructure, including coastal areas.

Separately, the participants of the round table focused on the safety of regular river transport and the introduction of digital systems. "According to the information of the Department of Transport of the capital, the introduction of the automated information system "Moscow.The river"made it possible to centrally coordinate vessels, manage the mooring network and monitor violations," said Alexander Shelkovoy, a member of the SVO, a sergeant of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, a combat veteran, and a member of the SVO Veterans Association.

According to him, in the context of technological transport, the issue of training specialized specialists is relevant. An important role is also played by a hands-on approach to education and close communication between schools, educational institutions and enterprises, added Shelkovoy.
