New textbooks on natural sciences to be developed in Russia by 2027
New state textbooks on chemistry, physics and biology for senior classes are planned to be prepared by 2027. This was announced on June 20 by the Minister of Education of Russia Sergey Kravtsov.
"Textbooks on chemistry, physics and biology for senior classes are planned to be prepared by 2027. The Russian Academy of Sciences and MIPT are involved in their development," the minister is quoted as saying on the website of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation.
It is specified that simultaneously publications are being created for both basic and in-depth study of subjects. The Minister also said that the preparation of a series of textbooks "Step into Agrotech" is continuing, covering all eight areas of agrotechnological classes. After testing, individual manuals are planned to be included in the federal list of textbooks.
In addition, Kravtsov spoke about the modernization of the school infrastructure. In 2026, physics classrooms with equipment for conducting experiments and project activities are planned to be equipped in more than 22 thousand schools, and in 2027, a similar renovation of chemistry and biology classrooms will be carried out in more than 20 thousand educational institutions.
On June 25, Kravtsov announced that the Ministry of Education would prepare unified textbooks in all subjects. The minister clarified that by the end of 2026, the federal list is planned to include unified textbooks on the Russian language, literature, chemistry, physics and biology for students in grades 10-11, as well as on labor for students in grades 5-9. The Russian Academy of Sciences is involved in the development of textbooks in mathematics, computer science, physics, chemistry and biology.
