- In Germany, they warned about the possible reduction of up to 100 thousand jobs in industry
The German industrial sector may face a large-scale reduction in employment in 2026. According to the Horvath consulting company, up to 100,000 jobs may be eliminated in the country. On June 29, the Handelsblatt newspaper reported this.
"The German economy is barely growing, which means that distribution problems are getting bigger," the publication says.
According to the study, about 60% of industrial enterprises expect further staff reductions in the coming years. The main reasons cited are rising labor costs, the high cost of doing business, and the relocation of production facilities, as well as research and engineering units outside of Germany.
According to the newspaper, the situation is particularly difficult in the mechanical engineering industry, which is under pressure due to the weakening global economy, declining demand and growing competition.
The Bild newspaper, citing a requested study by the INSA sociological Institute, reported on June 6 that the level of dissatisfaction with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz among the German population reached 77%, thereby setting a new anti-record. The politician's rating has plummeted by four percentage points compared to the end of April. At the same time, only 16% of respondents are satisfied with the work of the country's ruling coalition, while the remaining 78% expressed the opposite opinion.
