- Belousov: the situation with the protection of Russian regions from UAVs changes every two to three months
On June 29, Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov met with military correspondents who cover the course of the special military operation. During the conversation, the head of the department noted that now the situation with the protection of regions from drones changes every two to three months. For more information, see the Izvestia article.
"The situation changes regularly — every two or three months"
Belousov agreed that the protection of Russian units located in the area of their military operations, as well as all regions from unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) is one of the main tasks.
"The situation changes approximately every two months. Two or three months and the situation is changing," he said.
Measures to counter drones
Since April 2026, the Russian Ministry of Defense has been actively creating a unified information environment to increase situational awareness of UAVs.
In addition, at the moment, all groups of the Russian Armed Forces have a so-called echelon protection system for tactical interceptors.
AI technologies in Russian air defense: results and prospects
The head of the Russian Defense Ministry said that artificial intelligence (AI) technologies are now being actively introduced into Russian air defense systems. Such equipment, he explained, helps automate the process of identifying potential targets, classifying them, and building navigation.
Such a project is expected to be one of seven key initiatives that will be implemented by the end of 2026.
