Scientists have predicted possible Class X solar flares this week
Higher-class X flares are possible in the Sun on Monday and Tuesday. This was announced on June 29 at the Institute of Applied Geophysics (IPG).
"June 29 and 30, 2026. Solar flare activity is low to moderate, Class X flares are possible," the institute's website says.
Scientists have recently recorded the largest group of spots on the Sun in 2026. There was no noticeable solar activity in the region at that time, but weak plasma clouds can be periodically ejected from it.
On June 16, the Laboratory of Astronomy at the IKI RAS reported that solar activity remained slightly elevated, but in the future it may decrease to almost zero values after the end of the activity of the only active group of spots.
