Sobyanin announced the construction of a sports complex in Shcherbinka

It is planned to build a new sports complex in the Shcherbinka municipal district, which is part of Moscow, said the mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin.

The facility will be built next to modern residential areas. "The building with an area of about 6 thousand square meters is designed in the style of modernism — with clear geometric shapes, a flat roof and free layouts," Sobyanin wrote on his channel in Maks.

White aluminum panels will be used to cover the main part of the facade, some of them with perforations — their appearance will resemble a sports net draped over it. According to the mayor, this solution will "add lightness to the appearance" of the building.

The complex itself will include a multi-purpose hall for team sports, facilities for group activities, as well as a gym. The area around the building will be landscaped — firs and maples will be planted there, dogwood hedges will be placed, lawns will be laid and benches will be installed.

As Sobyanin noted, the design process has been completed, and preparations are underway for construction.

In April, the mayor announced that since 2011, the number of Moscow residents actively involved in sports has increased significantly. According to Sobyanin, an "open-air gym" has appeared in virtually every courtyard, and the city is constantly working to make sports accessible to everyone.

Over the past 15 years, stadiums, sports complexes and tens of thousands of sports grounds have been built, reconstructed and renovated in the capital. In 2025 alone, more than 800 sports grounds were equipped in Moscow, including about 50 football fields and over 10 streetball courts. During the year, about 140 table tennis courts, more than 100 multifunctional areas for various sports and over 10 skate parks were renovated and built, Sobyanin added.
