The Russian Foreign Ministry accused the West of escalating conflicts in the Middle East

The collective West provokes conflicts in various regions of the world and contributes to the escalation of tension in the Middle East and the Balkans. This was announced on June 27 by the Ambassador-at-large of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Alexander Trofimov.

"They have provoked a crisis in Eastern Europe and Ukraine, are rocking the Balkans, and have brought the Middle East to the brink of a large-scale war. We all see what tragic events are taking place there," Trofimov told TASS on the sidelines of the expert dialogue of the Valdai International Discussion Club in Kaliningrad.

According to him, the EU and NATO are acting in their own interests and fomenting crises in almost all parts of the Eurasian continent.

Trofimov noted that Western countries have already brought the situation in the Middle East "to the brink of a large-scale war," and also continue to rock the situation in the Balkans.

On the same day, Trofimov said that Russia was directing efforts not only to minimize the damage from unilateral Western sanctions, but also set itself the goal of completely eliminating their impact at the systemic level. The diplomat noted that along with political activity on the world stage during the period of sanctions, it is also critically important to form alternative ways of cooperation with friendly states.
