Burkina Faso severs diplomatic relations with France

Burkina Faso severed diplomatic relations with France due to violations of the principles of mutual respect and non-interference in internal affairs. Gilbert Ouedraogo, the country's Minister of Communications, announced this on June 26.

"Burkina Faso is severing diplomatic relations with France due to its alleged non-compliance with the principles of mutual respect and non-interference," the Reuters news agency quoted him as saying.

On February 2, the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service reported that France supported the rebels who tried to assassinate the President of Burkina Faso, Ibrahim Traore, because of his struggle against neocolonialism. In addition, Paris directly supports other terrorists of "various stripes" who are becoming its main allies on the African continent.
