Young Russians are most often interested in buying cars between the ages of 10 and 14. <url> experts told Izvestia about this on June 27. By Youth Day, they had studied which used cars in the segment of up to 1.5 million rubles most attract an audience under 25 years of age. In January – May 2026, interest in this segment increased by more than 20% compared to the same period last year.

In terms of the structure of demand, more than a third of ad views are for cars aged 10 to 14 years. The second most popular age segment is from 15 to 19 years old, it occupies about a quarter.

If crossovers have long accounted for the lion's share of consumer interest among new cars, they account for 28% in the secondary market, and sedans still remain the leading body type (40% of views). Japan and Germany remain the most popular producing countries, with South Korea actively joining them. Chinese brands are not actually represented in this category, experts noted.

The list of the most popular models in various age groups shows the dominance of domestic brands among the more "fresh" cars — no older than five years. These will be Lada Granta, Vesta and Niva. Kia Rio, Hyundai Solaris, Volkswagen Polo and Skoda Octavia predominate in the age range from 6 to 14 years. And among cars over the age of 20, the German premium comes to the top of the list: BMW 3 and 5 series, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, as well as the time-tested Volkswagen Passat and Toyota Corolla, the experts added.

The day before, it was reported that in the crossover and SUV segment, the average car ownership period in Russia was five years, and the share of cars owned for more than five years reached 39.8%. The longest ownership period in the SUV segment was recorded at UAZ Hunter.
