In the Rostov region, a resident of Gukovo was detained on suspicion of murdering a 36-year-old woman. This is reported by the regional SU of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

"The investigative Department for the city of Krasny Sulin of the Investigative Committee of the Rostov region has opened a criminal case against a 37-year-old local resident. He is suspected of committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Murder")," the report says.

The murder occurred on June 24 in an apartment building on Karl Marx Street in the city of Gukovo. The investigation believes that the drunk 37-year-old suspect quarreled with his 36-year-old roommate. He strangled her, and then inflicted multiple punches and kicks on her head and torso, NovostiRostov writes.

The woman died at the scene. The suspect fled, but was arrested the next day. The investigation has already sent a petition to the court for the election of a preventive measure in the form of detention.

Earlier it was reported that a court in the Lipetsk region issued a verdict in a similar case. A drunk man beat his roommate to death, but the case was classified not as "murder", but as "intentional infliction of serious harm to health, resulting in death by negligence."
