Sobyanin spoke about the launch of biometrics payments on Moscow rail transport

By the end of 2026, biometrics payments will be available in all Moscow central diameters, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said on his channel in the Maks messenger. Today, this method of paying for travel has been launched on MCD-1, until the end of July it will be used on MCD-2 and MCD-4, and by the end of this year — on MCD-3. As a result, by next year passengers will be able to use biometrics payments on all rail public transport in the capital.

Biometric payment is valid at turnstiles marked with black stickers. Passengers who have already registered in the Moscow Metro app for biometric fare payment do not need to register again. Today, more than 880,000 Muscovites have already registered to pay using biometrics in the application, the mayor of the capital said. The technical component of the project is being developed and tested by employees of the Moscow government's IT company MTTECH. The security level of the biometric payment system meets the banking requirements.

Moscow holds a leading position among the world's megacities in terms of the number of modes of transport with payment by biometrics. The modern high-tech payment method is valid at all turnstiles of the metro and the MCC, on Aeroexpress, regular river routes, and now at the stations of the MCD-1.
