Peru, Chile and Panama have become the leaders in the growth of foreign tourism among Russians

The total volume of hotel bookings abroad for the 2026 summer season increased by 10% compared to last year and amounted to 28.2% of all bookings. This is stated in a study by the OneTwoTrip travel planning service, which was reviewed by Izvestia on July 2.

Analysts noted that the greatest increase in interest was recorded in Latin American countries, where Peru became the leader, showing a fivefold increase in the share of bookings. This is followed by Chile and Panama, where interest has increased 4.7 and 4.5 times, respectively.

Experts attribute the growing popularity of the region to the availability of a visa-free regime for Russians and the development of convenient transit routes through major transport hubs, which allows for more complex and affordable tourist routes.

"Tanzania took the fourth place in the rating — interest in hotels in this African country has tripled. The rapid rise in popularity of Tanzania in the summer season is due to an important logistical factor: the launch of direct scheduled flights from Moscow to Zanzibar and Dar es Salaam," the analysts noted.

Russian citizens often prefer the countries of South-East Asia.

Romania also showed significant growth, with a 2.7-fold increase. The Dominican Republic is next in the ranking, with a 2.6-fold increase, as well as Monaco, Bangladesh and New Zealand, which showed the same 2.5-fold increase in bookings.

India, Greece and Australia complete the list, where interest in hotels has more than doubled compared to last year, the analysts concluded.

On June 23, Kupibilet service analysts, having studied the data on the tickets sold, told Izvestia that Kaliningrad topped the ranking of the most popular domestic travel destinations in July. It accounted for more than twice as many bookings as the runner-up Sochi. The average cost of a flight to Kaliningrad was 12.96 thousand rubles one way. Istanbul has become the leader among foreign routes.
