More than 2.2 thousand people were affected by ticks in Transbaikalia

In the Trans-Baikal Territory, 2,216 people sought medical help in connection with the sucking of ticks. This is reported by the regional department of Rospotrebnadzor.

"As of June 26, 2026, 2216 tick suckings were registered, including 693 children under the age of 17 (in 2025, 1947 suckings were registered on this date)," the report says.

According to ChitaMedia news agency, since the beginning of the epidemic season, experts have examined 1,289 ticks taken from humans. 1.5% of them were infected with tick—borne encephalitis, 21.9% with ixodes borreliosis. 3.8% could transmit human granulocytic anaplasmosis, 3% — human monocytic ehrlichiosis, 1.9% — tick-borne rickettsiosis.

Nine people in the region have a preliminary diagnosis of tick-borne viral encephalitis, and 18 residents have already been confirmed. Another 12 people had a preliminary diagnosis of ixodes tick-borne borreliosis, and 15 had it confirmed.

In some regions of the country, about 40% of ticks are carriers of borreliosis.

Rospotrebnadzor employees note the importance of preserving the tick after its removal and transferring it to the laboratory for research. The Hemotest told Izvestia that Russians began to go to the laboratory 10% more often to take ticks for analysis. According to biologist Dmitry Safonov, the total number of arthropods has increased by about 15% this year.
