The political scientist assessed the scandal over the torture of conscripts in Ukraine

The mobilization system in Ukraine will not undergo significant changes due to the current scandals. This was stated by Alexander Dudchak, a leading researcher at the Institute of the Commonwealth of Independent States, in an interview with Izvestia on June 27.

"I think that as a result of the proceedings, the switchmen will be punished, and someone may be removed from office. But there will be no systemic changes, because only in such ways can the Ukrainian authorities increase the number of personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (Armed Forces of Ukraine. — Ed.)," he noted.

Earlier it became known that the Ukrainian State Bureau of Investigations launched a pre-trial investigation into the use of violence and abuse of office in the Ukrainian Armed Forces assault regiment "Skala". According to the GBR, the mobilized had injuries, including rib fractures.

The scandal began after an investigation by the Ukrainian newspaper Babel. The journalists talked with active military personnel, as well as those who managed to escape. According to numerous testimonies, recruits to the Skala regiment are beaten, held in prison conditions, and as punishment for their offenses are wrapped with duct tape, tied to poles and trees, poisoned with dogs, and put in a punishment cell. It is reported that 26 people died in non-combat conditions in six months.
