Hospitals in Caracas and the capital region are overcrowded after the tragic earthquake in Venezuela. This was reported to Izvestia on June 26 by correspondent Mariorin Mendes.

There is still no final data on the number of dead and injured, rescuers continue to dismantle the rubble. Local authorities urge residents to remain calm and be careful during rescue operations.

"They find not only the dead there, but also people who managed to survive. This gives hope to the families of those whose loved ones are still missing," Mendes said.

The earthquakes in Venezuela occurred on June 24. The epicenter was located 60 km northwest of the city of Valencia, as well as 28 km northeast of San Felipe. The magnitude of the natural disaster was estimated at 7.5. The earthquake was the strongest in the country since 1900. According to the latest data, the death toll has increased to 235 people.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on June 25 that the Russian side is currently exploring the possibility of providing humanitarian assistance to Venezuela after the earthquake. Russian diplomats are in constant contact with the authorities and emergency services of the republic.
