The EC proposed to deprive Ukrainians suitable for the front of asylum in the European Union

The European Commission (EC) has proposed to revoke the temporary protection status of Ukrainians who are subject to military conscription in Ukraine. This was announced on June 26 in a communique on the website of the European Commission.

"Temporary protection, as a rule, should not be provided to newly arrived persons who do not have permission from the Ukrainian authorities to leave Ukraine in connection with their military duties," the message says.

The communique also states that temporary protection will be extended until 2028 to "preserve the legal certainty" of Ukrainians who are already in the European Union. According to the EU, we are currently talking about 4.4 million people.

According to the EC, the program under discussion should provide not only for the sustainable reintegration and return of refugees to Ukraine, but also the opportunity to obtain long-term resident status for those Ukrainians who remain in the EU.
