In summer, the load on car systems increases significantly, especially on air conditioning, brakes and engine oil, so it is important for drivers to check the technical condition of the car in advance and comply with maintenance regulations. The technical director of LN DISTRIBUTION LLC (Lynx, NGN, Ichiro brands) told Izvestia about this on June 26. Andrey Babushkin.

According to the expert, the performance of the air conditioning system is easiest to assess in the warmer months, when most malfunctions become noticeable during operation. One of the key signs of a breakdown is the lack of cooling and the supply of warm air to the cabin.

"The surest sign that the cooling system in the car is broken is the complete lack of cooling, when only warm air comes from the deflectors into the cabin," Babushkin said.

He added that the malfunction may also be indicated by the absence of a characteristic sound when the system is turned on and engine speed changes, and modern cars are often equipped with self-diagnosis modes of the climate system, which can detect the problem automatically.

The expert stressed that for the stable operation of the air conditioner, it is necessary to regularly clean radiators from contamination, change cabin filters and use high-quality components, avoiding counterfeit parts.

According to the expert, special attention should be paid to the braking system, since in hot weather it becomes one of the key safety elements. Worn-out brake fluid can lead to the formation of a steam plug and reduce braking performance.

"During active driving in the heat, the brakes become hot, and if there is old brake fluid in the car, a steam plug may form," Babushkin explained.

He noted that the brake fluid should be checked before each summer season, and its replacement should be carried out according to the regulations, as a rule, once every three years on new cars and then every two years. According to him, the best practice is to replace engine oil every 10,000 km, regardless of the season, which reduces the risk of premature engine wear.

On June 2, experts said that using car tires with a low profile (45% or lower) and, as a result, a larger diameter disc entails a number of disadvantages. For example, there is a high risk of damage to the tire and disc when hitting a road obstacle, and driving comfort also deteriorates, since the tire is unable to absorb road bumps due to the height of the profile.
