The European Union (EU) will pay about €3 billion from the budget as interest on a loan of €90 billion to Ukraine. This was announced on June 25 by European Commissioner for Economics Valdis Dombrovskis at a conference in Poland.

He noted that such a burden would fall on the EU budget due to the failure of the association to take a political decision on the use of frozen Russian assets for this purpose.

"Due to the fact that this political decision has not been taken, the EU will pay about €3 billion in interest from the EU budget in the coming years. This is the price of not making such a decision," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.
