Seven sailors were injured due to a fire on board a warship in the United States.

Seven crew members of the American warship USS Indianapolis were injured in a fire on board the ship. This was reported on June 25 by the Navy Times (NT) newspaper

"On Wednesday, seven crew members of the coastal warship USS Indianapolis modified Freedom received minor injuries as a result of a fire on the ship, the department confirmed," the publication says.

The fire was reported while the ship was anchored at the Naval base in Mayport, Florida. Some time later, the fire and rescue service arrived at the scene and extinguished the fire. The causes of the incident are currently being investigated.

"The soldiers were released shortly after arriving at local hospitals and were allowed to return to Indianapolis on the same day," the newspaper notes.

One sailor was also killed on June 6 as a result of gunfire aboard the aircraft carrier USS John F. Kennedy under construction. The deceased was boatswain Jesse Braswell. Another sailor was taken into custody pending trial. At the same time, he has not yet been formally charged, as the investigation is ongoing.
