Yershova noted that the substitution principle works much more effectively. If the cat likes being at the top, she needs to be offered alternative high points. For this purpose, scratching post complexes with several levels, wall shelves for cats or a tall cabinet are suitable, which the animal can climb on a special pole.

"It's impossible to explain to a cat that she can't climb up at all. But you can show a place where it is allowed and even profitable to do this. The more attractive the alternative, the less interest there will be at the table," the psychologist said in an interview with Lenta.Ru .
