Temporary restriction of electricity supply introduced in Crimea

A temporary restriction of electricity supply has been introduced in the Republic of Crimea, the press service of the State Unitary Enterprise of the Republic of Kazakhstan Krymenergo reported. The measure was taken at the command of the dispatcher of the Black Sea RDU to prevent an accident in the power system. All the details are in the Izvestia article.

The circumstances of the restrictions

Restrictions are introduced to avoid overloading the electrical network and prevent an accident in the entire energy system of the peninsula. The decision was made by the system operator, so there are currently no accurate hourly schedules for outages by area. Shutdowns will be carried out point-by-point and as needed. Krymenergo assured that they are taking all possible measures to restore stable power supply.

Causes and consequences

The reason for the restrictions were numerous outages and unstable power supply to water intake facilities, which led to the shutdown of wells and a decrease in water reserves in reservoirs. The Krymenergo hotline clarified that due to technological disruptions on the main networks, electricity supply was partially disrupted in most municipalities of the region. Partial shutdowns were recorded in Simferopol, Sudak, Alushta, Yalta district, as well as in Simferopol, Leninsky and Bakhchisarai districts.

Previous restrictions

The day before, due to grid disruptions, electricity was lost in several cities and districts of Crimea - Yevpatoria, Saki, Yalta, Alushta, Simferopol and Dzhankoy. A temporary power supply restriction regime has also been introduced in Sevastopol. The governor of the city, Mikhail Razvozhaev, urged residents to reduce the load on the network as much as possible and temporarily abandon the use of powerful electrical appliances.
