A court in Paris refused to release Anna Novikova, the founder of the SOS Donbass association for assistance to residents of Donbass, under judicial supervision. Lawyer Philippe de Vel informed Izvestia about this on June 24.
According to him, at the moment, the defense has only been provided with a court decision without a reasoned part. Novikova's mother was also present at the meeting. The next court hearing is scheduled for July 15.
On April 30, Russian Ambassador to France Alexei Meshkov said that the Russian Embassy in Paris had succeeded in getting Novikova to visit her in prison again. He also said that attempts are being made to convince the French side to reconsider the decision on the conditions of her detention.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on April 1 that Russia was calling on France to immediately release Novikova. The statement notes that Moscow considers her criminal prosecution unacceptable and associates it with expressing a position that does not coincide with the official line of Paris.
Novikova, who was detained in France, said on December 13 that police officers with machine guns burst into her room early in the morning, took her out with a bag over her head and interrogated her for several hours for several days. She sought medical help once for dizziness. Between interrogations, Novikova slept most of the time, which helped to keep calm.
