The disorder caused by watching the World Cup match has been resolved in Tashkent.
Dozens of fans who came to the Milliy stadium in Tashkent to watch the match between Uzbekistan and Portugal in the framework of the 2026 FIFA World Cup tried to climb over the fence, provoking riots, which were quickly settled by the police. This was announced on June 24 by representatives of local law enforcement agencies.
"Law enforcement officers have brought the situation under control, order has been restored around the perimeter of the stadium fence," they said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
This comment was provided after a video began to spread on social networks showing fans climbing over fences while police officers guarding Milliy were inactive. The agency's interlocutors clarified that as a result of the incident, no violations of public order were recorded.
The game during which this incident occurred in Uzbekistan ended the day before with a score of 5:0 in favor of Portugal. Cristiano Ronaldo, Nuno Mendes and Rafaela Leau scored goals during the match. Uzbek goalkeeper Abduvokhid Nematov accidentally provided the fifth goal for the winners. The meeting itself took place in Houston, USA.
