The historical decor was restored on the facade of merchant Vinogradov's house in Moscow

In Moscow, the next stage of restoration of the house of merchant Dmitry Vinogradov in 2nd Krutitsky Lane has been completed. This was announced on Wednesday, June 24, by the Moscow City Heritage.

Specialists have restored and returned the historical carved wooden decor to the facade. According to Alexey Yemelyanov, head of the Department of Cultural Heritage of the capital, restorers have put in order the carved cornice, the gable in the form of a cocoanut and window frames, recreated from historical photographs. To do this, the remaining decorative elements were previously dismantled and sent to a workshop, where about 300 lost decorative parts were made according to samples.

The Vinogradov merchant's House, built in 1880, is considered one of the few surviving monuments of wooden architecture in Moscow at the end of the 19th century and remains an important part of the historical development of the Krutitsky courtyard area, the Moscow City News Agency reports.
