The widespread use of subcompact turbocharged engines is associated with both environmental requirements and high returns with a small volume. This was stated by Anastasia Motrich, head of the Avilon AG marketing service, Rossiyskaya Gazeta reports on June 24.

As the expert explained, it is easier to make such an internal combustion engine more environmentally friendly, and with a smaller working volume, it provides good power and traction, and when driving calmly, it helps to reduce fuel consumption and emissions. The low-volume turbo engine pulls well from low revs, gives confident dynamics and makes the car more comfortable both in the city and on the highway, she noted.

However, as the specialist pointed out, such turbocharged engines have a number of disadvantages: the complexity of the design, as well as the requirements for the quality of oil, fuel, the condition of the cooling system and the frequency of maintenance caused by operation at higher temperatures and loads. Repairing individual components can be more expensive than a simple naturally aspirated engine, the expert warned.

Motrich said that the first generations of small turbo engines were not always very resource-efficient and were particularly sensitive to operation, but modern units have changed a lot.

Stanislav Melnikov, the founder of the tuning center, said on June 22 that Russian motorists on forums dedicated to Chinese cars began to complain more often about overheating engines and the failure of units. According to him, the reason is that most modern cars are forced to operate at operating temperatures above 100 ° C for the sake of environmental friendliness and efficiency at idle and under low load.
