The truck tire market in the Russian Federation declined amid declining car sales

Truck sales in Russia declined significantly in 2025, and the truck tire market also showed negative dynamics. According to the results of last year, the decline in the truck tire market amounted to 12%, the press service of the Cordiant holding told Izvestia on June 24.

According to him, the market for combined truck tires has decreased most noticeably (-19%), while the market for all-metal cord tires has decreased by 10%. The average capacity utilization for the production of truck tires last year was 60%. In the first quarter of 2026, production in the CMK tire segment, which holds a 64% share in the truck tire market, decreased by 11% year-on-year. The output of all types of truck tires decreased by 6%.

As representatives of the holding noted, truck tire imports are growing in 2026, due to a strong ruble and a simultaneous reduction in the key rate. As a result, the share of imported products in the truck tire market reaches 60%. At the same time, imports of CMC tires in 2025 decreased by only 0.5% year-on-year and amounted to 3.6 million units. In the first quarter of this year, imports resumed growth against the background of underutilization of Russian capacities, and Chinese tires predominate in its structure with a share of 94%.

By the end of 2025, Cordiant occupied 15% of the truck tire market. Its share in the CMK tire market increased from 14% to 15%, the holding shared. According to his forecast, in 2026 the CMK tire market will remain at the level of 2025 — 5.2 million units.

According to the analytical agency Autostat, 4.5 thousand medium—tonnage trucks (MCVs; gross weight from 3.5 to 16 tons) were sold in the Russian Federation in 5 months of this year, which is 14% less than in January -May 2025. In May, the market fell by 26% compared to April.
