AGR talked about plans to localize Jeland cars in St. Petersburg
At the moment, AGR holding is engaged in the localization of production of cars of the new Russian brand Jeland, which are being produced at the former GM plant in St. Petersburg. The company plans to master the production of key components and assemblies for the brand's machines based on Chinese models. This was reported on June 24 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the St. Petersburg plant.

According to Andrey Karagin, CEO of AGR Holding, work is currently underway to localize the 1.6-liter turbo engine, cylinder head (cylinder head), steering wheels with an airbag, as well as side airbags and seat belts and wiper blades.
At the moment, cars are already equipped with a Russian-made control unit for body electronics and telematics, an ERA-GLONASS system, a fuel tank, a battery pack, an exhaust system and production fluids (wax, body pretreatment).

The start of Jeland full-cycle production with welding, painting and assembly started in April 2026, the plant's capacity is 100 thousand vehicles per year. The company employs approximately 2.5 thousand employees, their average age is 35 years, 30% have higher education. The total area of the site in Shushary is 683 thousand square meters, the built—up area is 128 thousand square meters. There are 5 thousand parking spaces for storing finished cars.
Jeland is one of four joint projects of the Russian holding AGR and the Chinese company Defetoo, in addition to Tenet, Tenet Plus and Esteo.
The Jeland J6 crossover, the first model of the new domestic brand, went on sale on June 11. The model is available in three trim levels at a price of 2.29 million, 2.55 million and 2.7 million rubles, respectively. The J7 crossover was announced on June 17, and the flagship J8 SUV was unveiled on June 24. These two models will also be put on the assembly line in St. Petersburg.
