SPIEF-2026 started in St. Petersburg

The XIV St. Petersburg International Legal Forum has started its work at the Expoforum site. Over the course of three days, experts will discuss topical issues of the legal field, focusing on finding new points of contact during global turbulence, finding new approaches to partnership development, and laying the foundation for a stable future.

SPIEF 2026 is held under the motto — "Time to be in the right." The Forum is attended by more than 5,000 people from more than 80 countries.

On the first day of the Forum, special attention was paid to the history of the development of the legal industry. At the session "1905: Revolution and Reforms. Lessons of history" experts will examine the causes, role and consequences of the events of 1905.

Modern technologies will also be in the focus of attention. During the session "CTRL+ ALT+ LAW: modern technologies in providing free legal aid," experts will discuss the implementation of digital solutions in the state system of free pro bono legal aid.

At the session "Historical Amnesia of Europe", experts will discuss which legislative initiatives and institutional measures can strengthen legal protection against the resurgence of extremist ideologies and ensure the preservation of objective historical memory.

The key event of the first day of the Forum will be the plenary session "International law — the privilege of the first or the right of equals?". The event will traditionally be attended by Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation.

For the first time, the stand of the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation will open on the Forum site, where the working methods of commissioners from 89 regions of the country will be presented.

There will also be a number of presentations on this day. Vladimir Medinsky, Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation, and Sergey Kravtsov, Minister of Education of the Russian Federation, will present new textbooks that will form the basis of the educational program on the subject of "Social Studies" for students in grades 9-11.

The XIV St. Petersburg International Legal Forum is being held in St. Petersburg from 24 to 26 June 2026. The event is organized by the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation and the Roscongress Foundation.
