Doctors explained the reasons for fatigue on vacation
Galina Engelhardt, Deputy Chief Physician of the Clinic of Neurology and Orthopedics, PhD, in an interview with aif.ru On Tuesday, June 23, she said that the body needs several days to adapt to the new climate. According to her, acclimatization usually takes from two to five days, so short trips may not give the expected recovery effect and even lead to additional exhaustion.
The doctor noted that for a full recovery, it is optimal to rest for at least 16-18 days, and after returning home, you should leave yourself a few more days to adjust back.
In turn, Roman Buzunov, a somnologist, MD, Professor, Honored Doctor of the Russian Federation, warned that an excess of impressions, constant excursions and frequent changes of locations can worsen sleep. According to him, even positive emotions are stressful for the body and interfere with full recovery.
Experts also recommend that you do not overload yourself with entertainment during the first days of your vacation and be more careful to get acquainted with the local cuisine, gradually introducing new foods and drinks into your diet.
The day before, on June 22, psychologist Dmitry Yagudin stated that it takes two to three weeks of vacation to restore the nervous system. According to him, full recovery usually begins only after 10-14 days, when sleep improves, concentration returns and stress levels decrease, the website notes. kp.ru .
Earlier, on June 20, psychologist Diana Goncharova noted that chronic exhaustion can manifest itself as emotional devastation, constant stress, loss of interest in one's own desires and a sense of guilt over rest. And the first medicine, according to her, is to allow yourself to be ineffective for at least an hour a day, writes RT. According to Goncharova, office workers, parents of young children, middle managers and perfectionists are most often confronted with this condition.
Earlier, on June 18, internist Galina Volkova told 360.ru that a constant feeling of fatigue can indicate health problems if the body does not recover even after a weekend or vacation. Unexplained weight loss, prolonged subfebrile fever, swollen lymph nodes, night sweats, shortness of breath, chest pain, and pallor or jaundice of the skin may be the reason to consult a doctor. If you are constantly tired, the specialist recommended taking a general blood test and checking the ferritin level to rule out anemia and iron deficiency.
In May, State Duma deputy Nikolai Novichok made a proposal to increase the annual leave from the standard 28 to 35 days. In his opinion, according to the current rules, one of the parts of the vacation must be at least 14 calendar days, in which case the employee spends at least four days off on vacation. Novichok pointed out that this is the main reason why it is worth extending your vacation by a week. Such rest helps to fully restore strength and reduce the risk of burnout, NSN notes.
At the same time, Japanese scientists concluded that vitamin B12 and folate deficiency may be a hidden cause of chronic fatigue and decreased motivation, even in clinically healthy people. The alleged link between vitamin B12, folate, and fatigue in healthy people appears to be the first report of its kind. The level of homocysteine in the blood has traditionally raised concerns about cardiovascular diseases, dementia, and fractures.
