- The priest refuted the myth about the prohibition of weddings on the day of the first apostles
On Peter and Paul's Day on July 12, you can get married. Philip Ilyashenko, a priest and vice-rector of St. Tikhon's Orthodox University for the Humanities, told Izvestia about this.
"There are no restrictions on weddings on Peter and Paul Day. You can not get married on fast days, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. As it is, there are no restrictions," the priest explained.
In 2026, the feast of the Holy Apostles falls on a Sunday, which is not a fast day. Peter's Fast, which precedes Peter and Paul's Day, ends the day before, on July 11. Therefore, there are no restrictions on the performance of the sacrament.
Earlier, Izvestia reported on the main traditions of celebrating the Dormition of the Virgin.
