Igor Rastorguev, a leading analyst at AMarkets, said that joint vacations and travel have become the main item of expenditure for couples. A significant part of the budget is spent on trips to restaurants and cafes, as well as on buying gifts. At the same time, women separately allocate expenses for preparing for meetings: visits to beauty salons, makeup and new clothes.
"Inflation directly affects the cost of romance, increasing the prices of tickets, transportation and catering services. The phenomenon of "friendflation" is observed, when the usual informal leisure turns into an expensive paid service. In response, young people are increasingly prioritizing impressions over material things, although rising prices sometimes force them to limit their activities," the expert said.
Motivation for part-time work
For many men, financial viability remains a matter of personal fulfillment and conformity to a social role. Igor Rastorguev notes that the lack of money for courtship can be perceived as a professional failure. As a result, men get a second job in order to meet their partners' expectations and societal attitudes about the role of breadwinner.
"Resentments appear in a couple: one thinks that he is not appreciated enough, the other feels a lack of attention. Although, in fact, the reason may be that all efforts are spent on earning money," Igor Rastorguev emphasized.
Impact on relationships
Olga Kushnareva, a family psychologist, warns that turning dating into a "financial exam" leads to burnout and anxiety. The fear of not meeting expectations can make a man hide the real state of affairs or avoid new acquaintances altogether. A mature relationship, according to the expert, should be based on an open discussion of the budget, and not on attempts to live above their capabilities.
"If a relationship requires a person to constantly live above their capabilities, this is no longer romance, but an exhausting attempt to match someone else's scenario," Olga Kushnareva said.
Labor market trends
Independent HR expert Anna Alikova records a qualitative change in motivation when looking for additional work. Previously, a second job was needed to close loans, but now it is becoming a systemic strategy. The most active in this area are specialists in the fields of IT, consulting and finance, as well as men aged 30 to 40 with mortgages and children.
Employers in flexible environments have become more likely to turn a blind eye to part-time work if the employee remains highly efficient. However, when the workload is high, the quality of work decreases, especially in creative industries and among middle managers. The specialist predicts that in the coming years the practice of "portfolio career" will become so widespread that companies will have to formalize the terms of the combination in contracts.
