The State Duma proposed to exempt electric vehicles from the requirements of localization in taxis

A bill has been submitted to the State Duma, which proposes not to extend taxi localization requirements to vehicles equipped exclusively with an electric power plant. The bill is published on the website of the lower house of Parliament.

The author of the bill is Georgy Kamnev, Deputy Chairman of the Duma Committee on Control. He proposed to add a new paragraph to the article of federal Law No. 580-FZ "On the organization of passenger and baggage transportation by passenger taxi ...", which specifies which vehicles are not subject to the localization requirement presented for the operation of such cars in a taxi.

As noted in the explanatory note, the initiative will reduce gasoline consumption in the country and smooth out seasonal peaks in fuel consumption. It is indicated that the implementation of the bill will not require additional expenditures from the federal budget.

The law on localization of taxi cars came into force in March. At that time, the Ministry of Industry and Trade published a list of domestically produced cars that meet the approved parameters of the Taxi Localization Act. Later in March, the list was expanded with Haval and Tenet models, then it became known about the inclusion of Omoda C5 and Jetour X70 Plus models.

Earlier, on May 15, it was reported that cars of the revived Volga brand were proposed to be included in the list of cars allowed to work in a taxi. The initiative was made by the All-Russian Association of Passengers, which prepared a letter addressed to the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Anton Alikhanov.
