The State Duma pointed to signs of Ukraine's unwillingness to negotiate
Ukraine is currently not ready for negotiations. Alexey Chepa, first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, expressed this opinion on Tuesday, June 23.
"I think this is a complex issue. Today, all that Ukraine will declare is the position of the Europeans, namely: cease fire and start discussing the details. That is, this is an attempt at another deception of Russia," the deputy said in an interview with Lenta.Ru .
According to Chepa, Ukraine will rearm and redeploy during the ceasefire, and then continue the conflict.
"And if we take into account the boorish letter that [Ukrainian President Vladimir] Zelensky handed to [Russian President] Vladimir Vladimirovich [Putin], it confirms that Ukraine is not ready for constructive negotiations. Nevertheless, our preparation of a peace agreement continues, including with the United States," he concluded.
Earlier in the day, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Russia is ready at any time to resume negotiations with Ukraine at the point where they stopped. 360.ru .
Lavrov, in an article for Politico Europe on June 19, said that Europe had unexpectedly "changed the record" and started talking about negotiations with Russia to save the Zelensky regime, "freeze out" the conflict and preserve Ukraine as a springboard to continue the fight against the Russian Federation, RT reports.
On the same day, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk expressed the opinion that the EU does not want to initiate negotiations with Russia on a settlement in Ukraine for fear of being in a losing position.
