"As for the United States, as far as can be assessed, they seem to be moving away from claims to be an objective mediator and are following the same course of increasing sanctions pressure on Russia," he said.

Lavrov added that the administration of US President Donald Trump has already adopted a "rather large package of sanctions" against Russia, in addition to extending the restrictions adopted under previous President Joe Biden.
