Lavrov accused the West of supporting Kiev's terrorist actions

The United Kingdom and the European Union (EU) countries continue to pump Kiev with weapons and finances, as well as condone the terrorist actions of the Kiev regime. This was announced on June 23 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

"Today, both Britain and the EU countries continue to pump the Nazi Kiev regime with weapons and money, and condone its openly terrorist actions," he said at a round table on the Ukrainian crisis in Moscow.

Lavrov also criticized the statements of the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, calling the conditions put forward by Moscow and European curators "boorish" and unrealistic. He recalled that Zelensky stated the need for Europe to determine the format of negotiations, while Kiev itself will decide who will represent the European side.

The Russian Foreign Minister called the EU's position on the negotiations on the Ukrainian crisis a "complete mess," saying he did not consider it necessary to pay attention to it. He also noted that Russia has no illusions about the EU's real plans to participate in the settlement.

"The real goal of the West is, under the guise of demands for negotiations, to save the Zelensky regime and preserve Ukraine as a springboard for continuing the fight against Russia. That's why they want to achieve an immediate cease—fire in order to stop the Russian offensive, once again <...> get a break, gain time to pump up the Kiev regime with new portions of modern weapons and deploy them," Lavrov stressed.

The minister also said that Europe relies on the "terrorist methods" of the Kiev regime against the background of the deteriorating situation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) on the line of contact, encouraging, according to him, attacks on civilian targets in Russia in order to destabilize the situation.

Lavrov, in an article for Politico Europe on June 19, said that Europe had unexpectedly "changed the record" and started talking about negotiations with Russia to save the Zelensky regime, "freeze out" the conflict and preserve Ukraine as a springboard to continue the fight against the Russian Federation.

The head of the European Council, Antonio Costa, said on June 19 that the EU could not act as a mediator in the negotiations on Ukraine, as it supported Kiev. However, he noted that the EU needs to establish a direct diplomatic channel of communication with Russia, stressing the importance of dialogue and exchange of positions.
