Lavrov called Zelensky's boorish words about restoring order in Belarus
On June 23, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called boorish the words of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, who demanded to "restore order" in Belarus.
"I am referring to Zelensky's boorish speech demanding that order be restored on the territory of a sovereign state, otherwise he will take care of restoring order there himself," Lavrov said, expressing his support for the Belarusian people in connection with the terrorist attack in the Bryansk region.
He also recalled that an agreement between Russia and Belarus on security guarantees within the framework of the Union State has been in force since March 2025. If necessary, Moscow is ready to take the full range of measures stipulated by the treaty to ensure the security of the ally and the Union State. Lavrov stressed that they are trying to draw Belarus directly into the conflict, expanding the geography of hostilities.
On June 17, an APU drone attacked a bus in the Bryansk region. It housed a children's football team from the Belarusian city of Rechitsy. Eight people were injured in the impact, including six children. The wife of one of the coaches was also killed, the woman was pregnant. A criminal case has been opened into the terrorist attack. The Belarusian Foreign Ministry demanded an explanation from Kiev for the strike. Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered urgent assistance to all those affected.
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko thanked Russia for helping the victims and took personal control of the investigation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces strike. On June 19, the CIS permanent Representatives condemned Kiev's attack on a bus with children. In particular, the Permanent Representative of Belarus to the Commonwealth, Igor Nazaruk, announced the presentation of a note of protest to Charge d'affaires of Ukraine Ivan Novitsky.
