Twenty earthquakes were registered off the coast of Sevastopol on Monday
Last night, a new weak earthquake occurred in the Black Sea off the coast of Sevastopol, which became the twentieth on Monday. This was announced on June 23 by Marina Bondar, Deputy Director of the Institute of Seismology and Geodynamics of the Crimean Federal University.
"The last recorded earthquake in the Black Sea in the Sevastopol region was yesterday at 22.21 Moscow time. It was weak, with a magnitude of 1.7, and became the twentieth in June 22," Bondar said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
She clarified that no new tremors have been registered at the moment. According to her, a series of earthquakes on June 22 with a magnitude from 1.0 to 4.4 occurred at a distance of 30 km from Sevastopol, four of them were felt on land.
The day before, the governor of Sevastopol, Mikhail Razvozzhaev, reported seven earthquakes. It was noted that the most powerful 4.4 magnitude tremor in the Black Sea was at a distance of 30 km from the city. Razvozhaev noted that there was no damage as a result of the seismic event. Later, another earthquake was reported.
