The auto expert explained the meaning of warming up the car in the summer
In summer, a long warm-up of the car's engine is not required before traveling, and it is enough to let it run for at least 30-60 seconds after starting. This was told by Tamashi auto expert Konstantin Ozhogin, Rossiyskaya Gazeta reports on June 23.
As the specialist explained, the fact is that after prolonged parking, the bulk of the oil is in the engine pan, and after starting the internal combustion engine, the oil pump takes some time to create the necessary pressure and distribute the lubricant to all important components.
The oil forms a strong protective film on the surfaces of the parts, which reduces friction and prevents premature wear during the first minutes of engine operation. During a short pause before the start of movement, the lubrication system goes into operation mode. After that, it is recommended to start moving smoothly and avoid high speeds and sudden accelerations until the engine reaches full operating temperature.
The expert especially advised owners of cars with turbo engines to follow this rule — the turbine operates at high speeds and is sensitive to the quality of lubrication.
Earlier in the day, experts said that there are several driving habits that help the car's climate system stay in a normal state for longer. For example, they advised turning off the A/C mode two to three minutes before parking, leaving only the fan running. This helps to dry the evaporator and reduce the amount of moisture remaining in the system after the vehicle stops.
