Footage of the aftermath of the hurricane in Kushva, Sverdlovsk region, has been published

In Kushva, Sverdlovsk region, at least 132 houses were damaged as a result of the hurricane, 32 of them were completely destroyed. Izvestia correspondent Nina Kataeva showed the consequences of the rampant disaster on June 23.

More than a quarter of the buildings damaged by the hurricane will not be restored — they are completely destroyed. Wooden houses suffered the most. A special passport with individually calculated damage is created for each affected owner.

In the first hours after the emergency, the water supply was restored. The situation is different with electricity — the wind broke the wires, which left 10,000 people without power. The power supply cables are lying right on the streets of Kushva, along with fallen trees. The specialists need another day to fix everything, Kataeva said.

Also, the utilities were able to clear the highways of the settlement. However, on the roadsides and at the entrances to the surviving houses, you can see a lot of cars that have been severely damaged. Trees fell on cars due to the elements, and the roof of some cars was completely crushed. Road signs were falling along with the trees.

Yulia Krayeva, who suffered from the hurricane, was at home at the time of the incident with her children. Due to the impact of the elements, windows and a door were blown out in her home, part of the ceiling collapsed and furniture toppled. Everything, according to an eyewitness, happened quickly, literally in 10-15 minutes.

"I was holding this door, I hid the children there — my little one is eight [years old]. I tell him, "Hide there!" <...> The glass is flying, it's flying from above, the door is crashing in, I'm holding it, it's falling, it won't close, I put it there, and it takes me out," the woman said.

A thunderstorm front with a squally wind passed through Kushva the night before. As a result of the hurricane, more than 4,000 private homes were left without electricity. 16 people were injured by the disaster. A high-alert mode has been introduced in the city. A temporary accommodation facility with 15 beds has been deployed in the city with the possibility of increasing to 30. The streets of the city are patrolled by the police.
