The expert spoke about the life span of a snow leopard in the wild

A snow leopard in the wild can live for 13 years, but snow leopards usually live up to ten. This was announced on June 23 by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Interregional Association "Center for the Study and Conservation of the Snow Leopard "Irbis" Ali Uzdenov.

"In the wild, 13 years is the absolute limit of life for a snow leopard, snow leopards usually live up to ten years," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

At the same time, as Uzdenov noted, cases of 13-year-old snow leopards living in nature in other countries have been recorded.

"I myself keep an eye on a snow leopard named Yunchi, which gets caught on the cameras of the Sailugem National Park. He lives in Altai, he is definitely more than ten years old, he is a dominant male and he has definitely become the father of a large number of kittens," the expert added.

At a meeting with the heads of international news agencies on June 4, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia was grateful to Tajikistan for the snow leopards given to it, as the country was doing a lot to restore the feline population. The Russian leader also commented on Russia's gift to Kazakhstan in the form of Far Eastern tigers. This gesture from Moscow, as he explained, was an aid to Astana in restoring the fauna.
