Vance announced the US intention to strengthen inspections of Iran's nuclear facilities by the IAEA

The United States intends to strengthen inspections of Iran's nuclear facilities by specialists from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). This was announced on June 22 by Vice President of the United States Jay D. Vance following talks between Washington and Tehran in Switzerland.

"According to Vance, Iran has agreed to admit the IAEA inspectors," CNN reported.

According to the politician, inspections of the IAEA staff at the facilities will help provide guarantees that Iran will never possess nuclear weapons.

At the same time, CNN reported later that day that Iran had denied Vance's statements about inspectors' access to its own facilities.

Iran said on Monday that its cooperation with the UN nuclear watchdog would continue "within the framework of existing procedures," refuting statements by senior American officials that Tehran had agreed to allow IAEA inspectors to return to the country.

The fragile agreements between Washington and Tehran are on the verge due to Israel's tough stance.

On the same day, Vance said that the Iranian representatives did not leave the negotiating platform in Switzerland, despite public statements about the possibility of such a step. He also said that the United States, Iran, as well as representatives of Qatar and Pakistan have made significant progress in the negotiations.

On June 21, American leader Donald Trump threatened Iran with destruction if the Strait of Hormuz was not opened, and with new attacks on it due to the alleged activity of pro-Iranian groups in Lebanon.
