Border collie killer sentenced to two years in prison in Moscow

The Shcherbinsky District Court of Moscow sentenced dog thief Sergei Pai, accused of stealing and killing a border collie named Sima in New Moscow, to two years and two months in a penal colony. This was reported on June 22 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the courtroom.

It is noted that the prosecutor's office requested five years in a general regime penal colony for the man.

Pai had previously refused to plead guilty to animal cruelty. The knacker called the method of dealing with the dog "painless." He stated that he expected to receive some kind of "therapeutic fat" in order to "heal" his loved ones, who had allegedly been ill for two months.

The facts of theft in the field of treatment of neglected animals have been revealed in several regions.

The Shcherbinsky court of Moscow on November 12 last year arrested Pai in the case of theft and brutal murder of a dog. It was noted that the defendant was near a garage box on Flotskaya Street in Shcherbinka, where he lured a dog, abducted it and fled in a car. Later, he inflicted life-threatening injuries on the animal. He packed the dog's remains in bags and put them in the freezer so that when it got dark, he could scatter them in dumpsters.

The Moscow City Court rejected Pai's appeal in December, but the prosecutor's office later approved the indictment against Sergei Pai.
