And he, in turn, handed them over to pious believing women. And so, accordingly, parts of the Virgin's clothes and belt end up in the hands of believers and eventually move in different directions and even split into parts. There is also a legend that the Virgin made the belt herself. It is described that it was woolen, decorated. He took over some of the powers of the Mother of God and became healing himself, so to speak," the priest explained.
The Miraculous Belt of the Blessed Virgin Mary is one of the main Christian shrines. According to legend, the Virgin Mary herself wove it from camel's hair. It is believed that he has a special grace to heal infertility, help in childbirth and protect against diseases. The Belt's particles are kept in the Vatopedi Monastery on Mount Athos (Greece), as well as in Italy and Georgia.
The church remembers many miracles with the belt of the Virgin. For example, in 1864, Constantinople was freed from the cholera that raged there immediately after the arrival of the Holy Belt of the Blessed Virgin Mary in this city. It was also a great mercy of God that none of those who fell ill with this dangerous disease died.
