"In itself, this find is a unique event, a miracle. After all, a safe with documents was found in the marshes in such a condition that they can be read," Khabirov's statement is quoted by the administration's website.
The discovery was made in the combat area of the 170th Infantry Division, which was sent to the front on June 23, 1941. The work was carried out near the village of Somino in the Nevelsky district.
Inside the safe were documents of the 210th separate communications battalion, which is part of the division, as well as letters, military literature and a banner. According to Khabirov, the condition of the materials allows them to be read and studied.
