A girl from St. Petersburg had her eye removed after being attacked with acid by her ex

Anastasia, a resident of St. Petersburg, who was doused with acid by a former young man in May, had to have her eye removed. The girl's father told Izvestia about this on June 22.

"The eye was removed. <...> Bandages are done every day," he said.

The man noted that Anastasia was transferred from the intensive care unit to a regular ward — she can already move on her own. The girl will have to go through several surgeries, long-term treatment and rehabilitation.

The victim's father added that the aggressor's relatives had not contacted them and had not attempted to visit his daughter in the hospital.

Medical mishap: attacks and aggression became the main threats for doctors

The number of unfounded claims from patients and their relatives is also growing.

On the evening of May 23, Anastasia's ex-boyfriend broke into her apartment in St. Petersburg with a knife, a pistol, and a gas canister. The man also had a can of acid with him, which he splashed in the girl's face. After that, he inflicted multiple stab wounds on her. There was a friend of the girl in the apartment who tried to pull the aggressor away, but she was burned by acid. Anastasia was hospitalized.

The attacker told Izvestia that he poured acid over Anastasia, allegedly because of the girl's "betrayal." After the crime, the attacker tried to escape, but he was detained. The victim's father told Izvestia that the St. Petersburg man had already appeared in a similar story — his other girlfriend ended up in the burn unit after a similar incident. A few months before the attack, the man harassed Anastasia, threatening to brutally kill her and her family, and brought two flowers to her house, hinting at mourning events.
