The theatrical season ended in Astrakhan with the large-scale premiere of the ballet "Cinderella" by Russian composer Sergei Prokofiev. The production on the stage of the Astrakhan Opera and Ballet Theater is dedicated to the 135th anniversary of the musician's birth.
"The premiere took place in the year of the celebration of the anniversary of the great composer Sergei Sergeevich Prokofiev. I am sure that the performance will adorn the repertoire of our theater and will delight Astrakhan residents and guests of our city," said Igor Babushkin, Governor of the Astrakhan Region.
The eternal story of the triumph of goodness and justice has come to life on the stage of the Astrakhan Opera and Ballet Theater. It is such projects that make imperishable classics especially relevant, and Russian culture alive and in demand.
Cinderella was first staged at the Bolshoi Theatre in November 1945, during the lifetime of its creator. Prokofiev completed work on the future masterpiece during the Great Patriotic War in 1944.
The International Festival of Classical Art "Caspian Seasons" will be held in Astrakhan for the fifth time from August 19 to 30. The culmination of the festival will be the premiere of the opera "War and Peace" by Sergei Prokofiev, which the Astrakhan Opera and Ballet Theater will show in the open air in the Astrakhan Kremlin.
