The special project will allow you to immerse yourself in the events of the first days of the Great Patriotic War and see the defense of the Brest Fortress through modern visualization technologies.

Interactive historical project "Brest. The First Strike" is dedicated to one of the most dramatic events of the Great Patriotic War – the defense of the Brest Fortress in the summer of 1941. With the help of modern digital technologies, Izvestia offers users to immerse themselves in the events of the first weeks of the Great Patriotic War and see with their own eyes how the fortress changed from a peaceful garrison to a destroyed symbol of resistance.

The multimedia project is based on a large-scale 3D reconstruction of the Brest Fortress, which reflects the different stages of defense. For each period, the corresponding condition of buildings and fortifications, the degree of their destruction, as well as unique historical materials, references, panoramas, interactive points, sound and atmospheric effects have been recreated.

"Brest. The First strike" offers each user to immerse themselves in the history of the fortress defense step by step. For this purpose, the special project has created a system of time periods, each of which provides detailed information about military operations and other important events. Thus, you can freely switch between historical panoramas and a digital model of the fortress. In the penultimate section of the timeline, the user can see photos of the inscriptions on the walls of the fortress, which were left by its defenders in the summer of '41 - they, along with a brief reference, were provided by the Brest Hero Fortress Memorial Complex.

The Izvestia historical special project is an attempt not only to tell the story of the defense of the Brest Fortress, but also to provide an opportunity to see its development day by day, understand the scale of the tragedy, and experience the conditions under which its defenders fought. The project combines historical authenticity, archival materials, and modern visualization technologies to preserve the memory of the heroic deeds of people who were among the first to face the war.
